These are screen shots of a database I compiled to help understand the historic landscape of Eastern Nassau County for the Gullah/Geechee Burial Ground Recording Project. This database includes USGS topographic maps, aerial imagery, shapefiles from the Florida Master Site File (FMSF) of historic resources, shapefiles from the UF GeoPlan Center of historic cemeteries, and newly digitized shapefiles of historic resources noted on the historic imagery. Some imagery was georeferenced when added to the database.
As a first use of the database, the project team to compared the resources noted on the historic documents with sites in the FMSF to ensure all were recorded. This database will continue to grow and be used for other spatial analyses throughout the project.
